Dr. Hanna Cook
Dr. Hanna Cook is a graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Cook is originally from Cherryfield, Maine, but practiced in North Carolina before returning home to purchase Presque Isle Animal Hospital with her brother, Dr. Jonah Babiarz, in 2017. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery and dentistry. Her personal interests are spending time with her family—husband and Practice Manager, Dustin, their children, Lab, Weimaraner and new kitty—enjoying water sports, hiking, skiing, reading, and traveling.
Dr. Jonah Babiarz
Dr. Jonah Babiarz is a graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Babiarz worked in a general and emergency practice in North Carolina before moving back home to Maine to purchase Presque Isle Animal Hospital in 2017 with his sister, Dr. Hanna Cook. His favorite part of being a veterinarian is strengthening the bond between owner and pet in addition to improving the quality of life in aging pets. In his free time, Dr. Babiarz enjoys fishing, watching and participating in sports, and spending time with his wife, Dr. McMekin, their families, and their three dogs and two cats.
Dr. Andrea P. Pesut
Dr. Andrea Pesut is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Pesut served as a veterinarian in the US Army Veterinary Corps for three years, then began general practice at the Presque Isle Animal Hospital. She and her husband became co-owners of the Hospital in 1991. Dr. Pesut is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Maine Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. Her professional interests include medicine, ophthalmology, dentistry, and ultrasound.
Dr. Chelsea McMekin
Dr. Chelsea McMekin earned her undergraduate degree at Berry College in Georgia, her home state, and attended veterinary school at Mississippi State University. Having just moved to Maine, Dr. McMekin is very excited to have the opportunity to live in such a beautiful part of the country (and experience true winter!). Her menagerie of rescue animals, including; hermit crabs, 2 bunnies, 2 dogs, a horse, and a grump cat, accompanied her on the journey north. Dr. McMekin has a passion for geriatric medicine and dentistry, and loves being able to aid in strengthening the bond between animals and their humans. In her spare time Dr. McMekin enjoys hiking, spending time with her husband, playing frisbee with her dogs and horseback riding.
Dr. Nicholas Pesut, Jr.
Dr. Nicholas Pesut is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Since 1994, Dr. Pesut has been a member of the Maine Veterinary Board, having served as Complaint Officer and Chairman during his tenure. He has served as Chief Veterinarian for the annual CANAM Dog Sled Race in Fort Kent for most of its 20 year history. His professional interests include both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
Mackenzie has worked at Presque Isle Animal Hospital since the summer of 2017. She loves spending time with her family at their camp as well as working and being part of their family farm. Being a part of the 4-H Baby Beef Club has been is the inspiration to her being a Veterinary Technician today.
Cindy has worked at the Presque Isle Animal Hospital since 1990. She and her family live in PI with two dogs and two horses. Cindy is interested in dog behavior and training. Away from work she enjoys working in her garden and orchard and participating in Wag It Games with her chocolate lab, "Jessie."
Karen is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, having been graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1984. Karen joined the team in 1986 and then again in 1994. She lives on the family homestead in Woodland with her daughters and their two cats "Kiko" and "Yen", her Great Pyrenees "Her Majesty", many chickens, rabbits, and sheep. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and doing activities with her daughters.
Dee has worked for the Presque Isle Animal Hospital since 1994. She and her family live in Mars Hill with an assortment of dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep and poultry. Dee enjoys gardening, knitting, and herding with her dog, "Tweed."
Jennifer has worked for Presque Isle Animal Hospital since 2000. She lives with her husband in Bridgewater on a farm with dogs, cats, horses, goats, and chickens. Jen is also self-employed as a dog groomer. In her free time, she enjoys time with her family, horseback riding and spending time at her cabin.
Kilynne has been with us since October 2017. She has a bachelors degree in animal science from The University of Maine at Orono. She enjoys spending her time off with her kids and family, horses, and her cat. Outdoor bbqs and side by siding are a few of her favorite things to do.
Jessica is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, having been graduated from the University College of Bangor in 2002. She has worked at the Presque Isle Animal Hospital since 2009. She lives in Washburn with her family, dogs "Angel" and "Aspen", and two cats, "Lilly" and "Lola." Her professional interests include anesthesia, surgery, and dentistry.
Alisa is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, having been graduated from the University College of Bangor in 2004. She first worked at the Presque Isle Animal Hospital in 2004, and then again in 2009. She and her family live in Washburn with dogs, cats, a duck, a duck, and a goose. She and her husband own Afterlife Affections cremation service. Her professional interests are in surgery and anesthesia.
Linsy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Behavioral Science from the Univerisity of Maine at Fort Kent. She joined our team as an animal healthcare assistant in 2010. Linsy lives in Washburn with her dog, "Tosh", three cats and hermit crab, "Fletcher". Linsy has interests in animal nutrition and behavior, and enjoys participating in Wag It Games with Tosh.
Angie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. She has worked as a Veterinary Technician at the Presque Isle Animal Hospital since 2008, and enjoys volunteering her services at the CANAM Dog Sled Races at Fort Kent each year. Professional interests include animal behavior and training as well as nursing care.
Amanda has earned a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management from Frostburg State University in Maryland, and a Master of Science in Wildlife Management from the University of Idaho. She works full-time for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as an Assistant Regional Biologist, but finds the time to work part-time as a Veterinary Technician at our Hospital. Her professional interests include wildlife management and nursing care.
Becky is a licensed veterinary technician who graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta in Bangor. She was soon after hired by Dr. Coville and worked with him at Aroostook Veterinary Services until its purchase by Presque Isle Animal Hospital in 2017 and continues her dedication to the care of the animals of the region. When not working, Becky enjoys the company of her husband, Bryan, their two huskies, "Luna" and "Lupine," their three-legged cat, "Tippy," and a multitude of freshwater fish. Her hobbies include outdoor activities such as dog sledding and hiking as well as crafting, painting, and costuming.
Angie has just joined our team in Houlton. She enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Carmen began working at PIAH in Feb of 2019. I was born and raised in Hodgdon, Maine. Graduated Northern Maine Community College in 1990 in nursing. In 2003, I returned to school and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a concentration in Biology and Chemistry. I taught science, media, computer science and worked in IT until accepting the position with PIAH. I am an Apple Certified MacIntosh Technician, and Licensed Practical Nurse. My husband Kevin and I live in Littleton with our two dogs, Sydney and Nova, two cats and 40+ chickens. In our spare time, we enjoy camping, hiking, biking (both pedal and motorcycle), skiing, spending time with our grandchildren and remodeling.
Lizzie has worked in the veterinary field for over 20 years as an animal care assistant. Lizzie enjoys the outdoors nature, gardening, caring for others, and shares her home with her 2 cats, "Salem" and "Nelly."
